Layhoon Chan: “We could not be more proud to continue this journey with Gayà for a long time”

The president of Valencia CF, Layhoon Chan, appeared alongside José Luis Gayà this Wednesday at the contract extension event of the captain. Layhoon Chan wanted to highlight the leadership, commitment and passion for Valencia CF from José Luis Gayà who extended his ties with the club until the 30th of June 2027. Good afternoon everyone,

Thank you for coming today to join us to witness this important event.

I am very pleased to announce the contract extension of José Luis Gayà to June 2027.

Gayà is a player with huge influence on the pitch and he is also our captain. His passion and leadership, based on his love for the club, make him a great example of Valencia CF DNA. We could not be more proud to continue this journey with him for a long time.

His show of commitment, his unrelentless especially during the toughest moment and his desire to achieve success for this club are a message of strength for all Valencianistas.

Growing in the club from the young age of 11, travelling long trips in the van between Ciutat Esportiva to Pedreguer, fighting fatigue and finding time to sleep, study and train, he has shown everyone what it takes to be successful as a player - with lots of sacrifice, hardwork, determination and yet being humble.

Many of our veterans say that they see the same fire in Gaya as what they saw in our other captains, Claramunt, Arias and Fernando. So, I am pleased that they have taken part in this announcement, together with our Academy captains, who are here to share this happy occasion with us. This is exactly because we have role models like Claramunt, Arias, Fernando, and Gaya, the passing of torch can continue year after year, generation after generation for our club.

Finally, Congratulations Gaya! Thank you for your contribution and leadership as our captain. We wish you many seasons of success at our beloved club, bringing joys to our fans.I also wish you health and lots of happiness.
